Energy Absorbing Bollards at Pascoe Vale South

Engineered to save lives, Australian Bollards’ Energy Absorbing Bollard (EAB 65), was recently installed at tram stop 45 in Pascoe Vale South.

Located on the intersection of Bell St and Melville Rd, the bustling tram stop sits opposite several shops and businesses including Bell St Canteen and Kip McGrath Education Centre.

The EAB is designed to a TL-0 containment level, allowing it to halt vehicles weighing 1700 kg while travelling at speeds of up to 65 kilometres an hour across work zones, low speed roads and high foot traffic areas. With guaranteed ability to reduce crowding in pedestrian dense areas, the EAB also decreases the amount of damage caused by errant vehicles.

Earlier this week, a woman was left in critical condition after a hit-and-run took place at a Melbourne tram stop. The woman was found to be thrown 15m across the road due to the force of collision, serving as a harsh reminder for how imperative pedestrian and road safety solutions are.

Designed specifically to absorb oncoming collision and protect pedestrians, assets, and infrastructure, the EAB works to decelerate the car in a controlled manner. The EAB comes in both a fixed, or removable option and is available to suit either high-speed or low-speed areas.
