International counter-terrorism initiative happening in Melbourne

The Australian authorities are on high alert as the coming festive season is approaching, bringing with it a heightened terror risk. In response, Victoria Police is hosting an international counter-terrorism forum, the first one to be held outside the United States. ‘We know that responding to terrorism is not something a single organisation, a single government or a single country can manage in isolation, that’s why we’re all here, as partners, to jointly confront this threat,’ assistant commissioner Shane Patton said. SECURITY FOR THE SUNSHINE STATE

Last week, it was announced that the Palaszczuk Government has approved a package of $98.3 million to counter terrorism throughout Queensland. This package is looking to strengthen the security at nine stadiums in Queensland, recruit officers and establish counter-terrorism programs. Here at Australian Bollards, we agree the additional protection in Queensland is a step in the right direction. We also believe bollards is another useful tool in any security plan. Rural liquor store ram raided

Two thieves have used a what-seems-to-be-stolen ute as a tool to smash the entrance of a Koo Wee Rup liquor store, in Melbourne’s southeast in the early hours of the Friday morning. Two masked-men stole cigarette lighters and two tills full of cash; albeit failed to break into a cigarette cabinet using their bare hands. The men entered with no tools when the ram raid occurred. The car used in the crime; which can easily be distinct, having black and white number plates, is similar to that of a Ford Ranger with a front bull bar, snorkel and steel tray at the back.   ...read more

UNSW gets High Level Protection

With the increasing occurrence of terror attacks around the world, Sydney’s city council has been taking steps to enhance security around public spaces in the city centre. In June this year, the council installed concrete bollards along Martin Place at the location of the Lindt Café siege, to prevent terrorist attacks like those we have seen in London, Barcelona and Nice. According to a City of Sydney spokesperson, the bollards will help to “strengthen security in public places”. We couldn’t agree more. With terror attacks sparking fear, th  ...read more
