First Class Protection for Lygon Street

Next to Carlton’s Italian heart-and-soul deli, King and Godfree, Australian Bollards recently installed semi-automatic bollards on the ever-evolving Lygon Street. In cooperation with Hutchinson Builders, the alleyway at 293 Lygon Street has ensured laneway protection with stainless steel architectural bollards engineered for style and safety. Semi-automatic bollards are designed to allow vehicles access to restricted and protected areas. Private parking areas commonly use semi-automatic bollards to grant specialised access to inner-city lane ways, embassies, dr  ...read more

Put Safety Back on The Menu

Several people in a McDonald’s car park near Wollongong were injured on Monday after a truck hit a fire hydrant and several vehicles, leaving a white sedan badly crushed. The truck was predicted to weigh at least ten to thirteen tons and caused serious damage to its surroundings. Witnesses to the event say they saw the truck “fly through the roundabout and up over a couple of cars”. While accidents like this are common and difficult to eradicate entirely, bollards installed to Australian standard could have stopped- or at least majorly slowed down- a tru  ...read more

Safety First Over the Finish Line

The Melbourne Cup is the race that stops a nation. It’s a great time to dress up, go out and have fun. While some people enjoy playing the odds by betting on the races, Australian Bollards doesn’t take any chances when safety is at stake. Flemington Racecourse already has bollards installed to protect specific areas and keep pedestrians safe from vehicles. However, more comprehensive coverage is always a good idea, especially at the height of the racing season. Event bollards can be used to reinforce the existing defences, covering gaps and adding extr  ...read more

Blackburn Returns

For the third time since May this year, North Blackburn Shopping Centre has been ram-raided. The two masked thieves took only eight minutes to cause thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. The thieves gained access to North Blackburn shopping centre by ramming a stolen ute through an unguarded entrance at 2:20am Thursday morning, using the vehicle to ram-raid four more stores. The owner of the salon has expressed concern over the security of the shopping centre, which has bollards installed at other entrances to the premises. The thieves fou  ...read more

Potential Copycat Ram-Raid in Sussex

A forklift was used to demolish the wall of a co-op supermarket in Sussex last week which resulted in three thieves getting away with an unknown amount of cash from an ATM. The group then abandoned the forklift to escape in another vehicle, leaving what a police spokeswoman said was “Significant damage” inside the store and to its exterior wall. This burglary comes only months after a similar attack on a supermarket in South Morang, Victoria, where thieves used a front-loader tractor to ram-raid an ATM and the entrance of the premises (http://www.australianbollards.com  ...read more

Coles Supermarket Ram-Raided in Seaford

CCTV captured a ute smashing through the entrance of a milk bar, a Coles supermarket and a smoke shop last week. The footage also shows the vehicle crashing into benches and shopping trollies before ram-raiding the roller door of a smoke shop. Police believe their objective was to steal cigarettes, although they left empty-handed. Although this kind of ram-raid is one of the most common forms of commercial burglary in Australia, there is something that can be done to deter ram-raiders and burglars when it’s most needed. Burglars prefer early-morning ram-raids, as this p  ...read more

Celebrating Sir Donald Bradman's 110th Birthday

Today marks Australian cricket legend Sir Donald Bradman’s 110th birthday. His test scores are still incomparable with anyone else who has played the game, making a total of almost 7,000 runs over 52 tests. And his statue can now be found protecting sports fans at Adelaide Oval. At the peak of his career the English cricket team created the Bodyline method of bowling, which was intended to attack the batsman’s body. This offensive hostile method proved difficult for batsmen but not for Bradman, who managed to curb the effect of offensive bowling tactics whic  ...read more
