The security measures will consist of more than 200 fixed and retractable bollards. With a budget of $5 million, SA has truly taken on responsibility to protect against vehicle-borne threats. According to security experts, such security measures are ‘vital’ at venues like Adelaide Oval. Security expert endorses bollards at government buildings

The Department of Social Services in Canberra has implemented bollard a solution around its new building. The static bollards are a standard security measure according to a spokesperson from the department. They are there to protect against ram-raids and VBIEDs (Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices). Security expert and executive chairman of Homeland Security Asia/Pacific, Roger Henning, agrees that the bollards are necessary. "I would totally endorse the investment," Henning said in an interview with Fairfax Media. He continued to point out that "government  ...read more

Ram-raid robbery shows there is a growing need for bollards

Last week, a group of around five men ram-raided Jai Jewellers in Smethwick, England. They smashed a lorry into the shop and threatened the staff with weapons. Before leaving with the gold, they attacked two police officers by throwing bricks at them. One of the police officers had to be taken to hospital with minor facial injuries. This incident shows that ram-raids aren't just inconvenient and expensive, they are also sometimes dangerous. With more and more ram-raids happening recently, it has never been more important for business owners to protect themselves and their b  ...read more

Ram raiders target Rolex store

Ram raiders have attempted a break-in at a Rolex store in Leeds, England. Two small vehicles entered before noon and rammed the store. There have been five such attacks in the city area over the last ten months. Extensive storefront damage was caused by the attempted robbery but it could have been much worse as there were several pedestrians in the area who were lucky not to sustain injuries from the vandals. This crime occurred because there was an inadequate bollard protection at these shopfronts to protect against ram raids. Crime Safe Bolla  ...read more

At Radford College, one driver drove 76 kilometres per hour in the 40-kilometre-per-hour school zone and at Daramalan Colege and Canberra College, drivers were pulled over after speeding by more than 30 kilometres per hour. St James Primary School acts on pledge to keep students safe

St James The Apostle Primary School at Hoppers Crossing has installed twenty three stainless steel bollards at the curb at their pick-up and drop-off zone. Before the installation, the curb presented a danger as students had to stand close to the moving traffic. Now the bollards create a barrier between students and traffic, keeping them safe during the busy morning and afternoon hours. The bollards make sure potential accidents won’t result in harm. Cars will be stopped before hitting the curb, preventing incidents like the one at Greenacre School in Sydney this Novem  ...read more

Never again ram-raids at Blackburn North

Only a few months ago, a man peered into a shop in Blackburn North. Soon after, he rammed his four-wheel drive into it and left without trouble. The store front was completely unprotected and unprepared for the attack. But not anymore. The event has made Blackburn North take steps to increase security around the building.
