Upgrades to Melbourne’s Busiest Tram Corridor

The tram corridor on St Kilda Road and Swanston Street is one of the busiest in the world. It’s also Melbourne’s most crowded and a notorious stop for commuters. The proposed new interchange, named ANZAC Station, will include what the City of Melbourne has called a “super stop”, which will reduce pressure on vehicles, trams and trains by allowing access via four entry points to bike and pedestrian paths, tram stops and a train station, all in the one place. NJM Group supports City of Melbourne taking positive steps towards a cleane  ...read more

Crash Barriers Save Man’s Life

A man walked away unscathed after losing control of his vehicle on the Western Freeway last week between Melton and Bacchus Marsh. Rescue crews who attended the scene of the incident credited the crash barriers, which are designed to avoid head-on and run-off crashes, for saving the man’s life. The Midland Highway is one of Victoria’s most dangerous country roads, claiming three lives, 10 serious injuries and 19 crashes between 2010-2015. The Victorian Government’s $450 million freeway safety installation rollout will be installed on 20 high-  ...read more

Black Ice, Cold Snap, Strong Winds

Road safety is a year-round issue (http://www.australianbollards.com.au/blog/work-fatigue-and-driving-a-deadly-cocktail). Australians face a new set of obstacles when winter comes and, as we’re currently facing cold weather, rain and harsh winds, Australian Bollards want to make all Australians aware of the dangers we face on winter roads this season. ‘Black Ice’ is invisible and generally forms during the night time and early mornings. It is most commonly found on stretches of road that don’t get much sunlight. Black ice makes braking diffic  ...read more

Bright Future for Solar Road Studs

Solar Road Studs are a superior road safety solution to Cats Eyes, a government study says. British Ministers are preparing to amend traffic legislation to allow solar road studs to be installed on British roads. Solar road studs can be viewed 900 metres away, around 10 times more than the visibility of a cats eye. Unlike the reflector-based cats eye, the solar road stud uses internal power through solar to self-illuminate. The environmentally friendly road stud can work for ten days straight on just four hours of sunlight ch  ...read more

NJM Group offer a range of signage and road marking products which can help to prevent such accidents in the future. Hazard markers and warning signs clearly point out changes in road patterns or road conditions to alert drivers of sharp turns, intersections, steep inclines, g  ...read more
