Pieces Missing in Recent Lego Thefts

Using a crow bar to pry open the entrance of an independent Lego retailer last night, two thieves forced entry into the premises before emptying and destroying its shelves- and getting away with almost $30,000 worth of Lego. With only three weeks until Christmas, it’s a shame this small business must suffer before what is probably their busiest business period of the year. While it’s unknown if the two robberies are connected, it’s clear the thieves knew what they were looking for, as only valuable and collectable items were targeted durin  ...read more

Visitors from all over the world arrive daily at Qatar airport, often seeking entertainment, hotels and food during their layover. Put Safety Back on The Menu

Several people in a McDonald’s car park near Wollongong were injured on Monday after a truck hit a fire hydrant and several vehicles, leaving a white sedan badly crushed. The truck was predicted to weigh at least ten to thirteen tons and caused serious damage to its surroundings. Witnesses to the event say they saw the truck “fly through the roundabout and up over a couple of cars”. While accidents like this are common and difficult to eradicate entirely, bollards installed to Australian standard could have stopped- or at least majorly slowed down- a tru  ...read more

Party’s Over for Small Business

Two thieves used bolt cutters to break in to a small business in Willaston, South Australia on Friday morning. CCTV footage shows the pair hooking the $10,000 trailer to their Nissan Pajero, closing the front gate and driving off undisturbed in to the night. Unfortunately, the owner of the party hire business hadn’t insured his custom-built trailer and will have to cancel upcoming events that require the trailer. CCTV first captured the thieves scouting the area- a common method used to find vulnerable properties- without security and which provide eas  ...read more

The thieves gained access to North Blackburn shopping centre by ramming a stolen ute through an unguarded entrance at 2:20am Thursday morning, using the vehicle to ram-raid four more stores. The owner of the salon has expressed concern over the security of the shopping centre, which has bollards installed at other entrances to the premises. The thieves fou  ...read more

Upgrading Victoria’s Future

Hoping to use it as a push to win next month’s election, Victorian state opposition has unveiled their planned 10-year rail upgrade. The $19 billion plan will feature 200km/h trains, much like those found in Europe. The aim is to reduce trip times throughout Victoria’s regional areas - a Geelong to Melbourne trip would take only 32 minutes after the upgrades. The focus will initially be on the areas of most congestion – Geelong and Ballarat – and will aim to relieve pressure from Melbourne’s current unsustainable growth. This plan comes j  ...read more
