Driver crashes into Christmas shoppers near Rundle Mall

A man crashed his car into four women near Rundle Mall as he tried to turn right into Rundle Street in Adelaide’s CBD just after 4pm on Saturday. The man is known to the police and has recently finished serving time in jail. He has been charged with two counts of causing serious harm by dangerous driving. More driving charges are expected to follow. Police said they are not treating the crash as a deliberate act but that reckless driving played a factor. A Bicycle Superstore in Highpoint Shopping Center in Maribyrnong has decided to install bollards in front of their facade to protect it against ram-raids. Ram-raids is a phenomenon where vehicles are used as a tool to ram through entrances to steal goods. It has unfortunately become more and more common. An 88-year old woman has lost control of her car, ploughing into a café in suburban Geelong. A café visitor was thrown across the floor in the incident which is believed to have been caused by the elderly woman mistaking her accelerator for her brake. 7 News footage of the aftermath shows the café had a lack of bollard protection. The extent to which criminals go to just to satisfy their desires is becoming very damaging to the overall fabric of society. In recent times, the level of violent ram-raiding criminals have significantly increased. This increase is partly due to the intensity of rising street gangs based in the outer suburbs of Melbourne. In the early morning hours on the 21st of July, an unattended petrol station in Rowville was targeted.
