Window Dressing Attracts Carlton Ram-Raiders

Two thieves used a storm for cover while they ram-raided a clothing store in Carlton over the weekend. CCTV vision shows a Mazda sedan reversing through the Elgin Street glass shopfront then realigning to the curb while the second burglar runs inside to remove the cash register and steal a bag of clothes. Motorists are seen driving past seemingly unaware that a robbery is taking place. The ease in which these thieves gained entry to the premises and the short amount of time it took for them to complete it raises alar  ...read more

Put Safety Back on The Menu

Several people in a McDonald’s car park near Wollongong were injured on Monday after a truck hit a fire hydrant and several vehicles, leaving a white sedan badly crushed. The truck was predicted to weigh at least ten to thirteen tons and caused serious damage to its surroundings. Witnesses to the event say they saw the truck “fly through the roundabout and up over a couple of cars”. While accidents like this are common and difficult to eradicate entirely, bollards installed to Australian standard could have stopped- or at least majorly slowed down- a tru  ...read more

Coles Supermarket Ram-Raided in Seaford

CCTV captured a ute smashing through the entrance of a milk bar, a Coles supermarket and a smoke shop last week. The footage also shows the vehicle crashing into benches and shopping trollies before ram-raiding the roller door of a smoke shop. Police believe their objective was to steal cigarettes, although they left empty-handed. Although this kind of ram-raid is one of the most common forms of commercial burglary in Australia, there is something that can be done to deter ram-raiders and burglars when it’s most needed. Upgrades to Melbourne’s Busiest Tram Corridor

The tram corridor on St Kilda Road and Swanston Street is one of the busiest in the world. It’s also Melbourne’s most crowded and a notorious stop for commuters. The proposed new interchange, named ANZAC Station, will include what the City of Melbourne has called a “super stop”, which will reduce pressure on vehicles, trams and trains by allowing access via four entry points to bike and pedestrian paths, tram stops and a train station, all in the one place.
