Car Hunt After Thieves Make Rocky Escape

Police are searching for a stolen SUV that ram raided an unprotected used car dealership gate in Rockhampton, Queensland. Thieves smashed a red Toyota Rav4 through the wire gate and escaped down Campbell Ln near the corner of Fitzroy St, after stealing the keys from inside. There appears to have been no road safety equipment to stop the robbery. Bollards are a familiar sight at car dealerships. These high impact barriers prevent cars from crashing into storefronts, and stop thieves from leaving with the valuable vehicles inside. A bollard is so essent  ...read more

Inconspicuous solution safeguards festival goers

Bendigo Easter Festival attracts thousands of visitors each year. This year was no different. While guests flocked to the scrumptious food stalls, exhilarating rides, and Sun Loong - the longest imperial dragon in the world – Australian Bollards’ temporary event bollards stood guard inconspicuously at the entrance. The bollards, installed just for the duration of the event, gave organisers the peace of mind they needed to focus on what mattered instead of worrying about safety issues. The Event bollards are simple and elegant with a sleek surface, and th  ...read more

London’s evolving bollard-style streetscape security solution

During the last year, several major cities around the world have been the target of vehicle-borne attacks. One of them is London. After the 2017 Westminster attack, it has taken further steps to protect its urban façade against future vehicle-borne attacks. According to Professor Jon Coaffee, of the Resilient Cities Lab at the University of Warwick, ‘more public spaces and transport infrastructure have been protected by ad hoc concrete blocks or metal barriers that, in many cases, will evolve into bollard-style streetscape security solutions.’ While  ...read more

Security expert endorses bollards at government buildings

The Department of Social Services in Canberra has implemented bollard a solution around its new building. The static bollards are a standard security measure according to a spokesperson from the department. They are there to protect against ram-raids and VBIEDs (Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices). Security expert and executive chairman of Homeland Security Asia/Pacific, Roger Henning, agrees that the bollards are necessary. "I would totally endorse the investment," Henning said in an interview with Fairfax Media. He continued to point out that "government  ...read more

Ram-raid robbery shows there is a growing need for bollards

Last week, a group of around five men ram-raided Jai Jewellers in Smethwick, England. They smashed a lorry into the shop and threatened the staff with weapons. Before leaving with the gold, they attacked two police officers by throwing bricks at them. One of the police officers had to be taken to hospital with minor facial injuries. This incident shows that ram-raids aren't just inconvenient and expensive, they are also sometimes dangerous. With more and more ram-raids happening recently, it has never been more important for business owners to protect themselves and their b  ...read more
