Network Ten investigates Chadstone’s new anti-terror solution

General manager of NJM Group Nicholas Marasco gave an interview to Network Ten on November 28 about a new anti-terrorism solution – a row of graphite grey spherical VBIED bollards (http://vbiedbollards.com.au/) - recently installed by Australian Bollards at Chadstone Shopping Centre. “They’ll stop a truck travelling at 60 km/h just through sheer weight. They also have a propriety security system pinning them to the ground,” Marasco told Network Ten’s reporter. The bollards are part of the Van Guard bollard range (http://www.designerbollards  ...read more

Melbourne gets permanent bollard solutions

(http://www.designerbollards.com.au/granite/vanguard-bollard-range/) Melbourne City Council has responded to the public backlash of the temporary concrete blocks dumped in locations around the CBD. The council will be removing the blocks and replacing them with permanent steel bollards and planter solutions. These are moves in the right direction and we believe the more aesthetic solutions will win over a large portion of public approval. With a large range of VBIED solutions available, we can see how stunning Melbourne can look if the right solutions were adopted. We   ...read more

The importance of safe, practical and beautiful schools

We all want to have a good experience when we go about our daily routine, whether it’s at the supermarket, the office, the gym or our favourite shopping mall. It’s important to be able to go about business as usual, and to feel comfortable in the process. Taking our kids to schools should be no different. An inviting environment is paramount for the wellbeing of our children. They should be able to move around freely in pleasant surroundings, so they can focus their energy on their school work. Feeling comfortable also depends on safety. Australian Bollards t  ...read more

Bicycle Superstore prevents ram-raids with simple solution

A Bicycle Superstore in Highpoint Shopping Center in Maribyrnong has decided to install bollards in front of their facade to protect it against ram-raids. Ram-raids is a phenomenon where vehicles are used as a tool to ram through entrances to steal goods. It has unfortunately become more and more common. One of the most recent incidents happened only a few months ago when two thieves used a ute to smash the entrance of a Koo Wee Rup liquor store in Melbourne’s southeast to steal cigarette lighters and cash. In July, two people ram-raided a petrol station in Rowville,  ...read more

Protecting Warehouses with W-Beam Guard Railing

W-beam guard railing has many applications which extend well past road solutions. Our recent installation at Owens Transport in Altona demonstrates the benefit of the solution in a warehouse setting. The installation serves three main purposes, firstly it has occupational health and safety benefits creating a walk way which forklifts and other machinery cannot enter. Forklifts are heavy pieces of machinery which move in many directions in cramp spaces so anything which can be done to separate foot traffic from forklifts traffic is creating a safer working environment.   ...read more

In the wake of horrific NYC terror attack

On Tuesday evening, New York encountered its biggest terrorism attack since 9/11. Twenty-nine-year-old suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, allegedly rented a Home Depot ute and proceeded to plough down pedestrians under the name of ISIS. During the attack, eight were killed and 13 were left injured. Saipov, a native Uzbekistani man who has lived in America since 2010, was shot in the abdomen by a police officer before being transported to hospital for treatment. “Lone-wolf” car attacks are providing cheap ways for terrorists to cause major damage without much fun  ...read more
